The Stony Brook University Sailing Team was originally established in the late 1970's; after a brief hiatus, a small group of students decided to reboot the team in 2011. Fast forward to today and the team is now thriving with a fleet of eight FJ's and two 420's that are located at our home base at Port Jefferson Yacht Club. We sail competitively in the Mid-Atlantic division of ISCA against a range of varsity programs in the Northeast.  Our sailors' background range from a competitive high school sailing experience to people entering the world of boating for the first time. This gives us the unique ability to maintain a balance of growth between the competitive side of the team while providing the opportunity for anyone within the SBU community to learn how to sail. We encourage anyone interested in joining to reach out to our team email and join our facebook page for updated information about practices, meetings and team outings.
